Aett

An Aett is a group of eight runes within the Elder Futhark, dividing the 24-rune alphabet into three sets. The first Aett (Freya's Aett) covers runes 1 through 8, the second (Heimdall's Aett) covers 9 through 16, and the third (Tyr's Aett) covers 17 through 24. Each Aett carries a thematic arc, and the Aett in which a person's birth rune falls adds interpretive context in runic numerology.
